History
The International British Academy(IBA) was founded in 2001, with just 3 classrooms and 35 students at Km. 30 Gen. Aguinaldo Highway, Dasmarinas, Cavite. The school's population quickly increased to 156, just 3.5 years after it started its operation and outgrew the Dasmarinas site. IBA moved to a new and bigger facility in Imus, Cavite in April 2005. At present, its population has grown to 274 students representing 14 different nationalities.
Three years after its registration with the Department of Education, IBA received its recognition as an NKP, Primary and Secondary school in Cavite.
IBA was registered with the Department for Education and Skills(DfES) of the United Kingdom(UK) in 2002 and was given the DfES No. 703/6439.
From October 2003-2007, International British Academy was registered at the University of Cambridge Center for International Examinations(CIE) as one of its Cambridge International Centers outside of the United Kingdom . CIE is a part of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES), a department of the prestigious university. This registration allows IBA to accept examinees for the different qualifications offered by CIE.
IBA continues to follow the University of Cambridge 's IGCSE courses for its Year 10 and 11 students since IGCSE is recognized worldwide as a reliable record of attainment which counts toward entry to universities and colleges around the world, including all British universities. IGCSE was introduced by the University of Cambridge International Examinations in 1988 as an international version of the UK GCSE, therefore, O Level grades are directly equivalent to the UK GCSE and the IGCSE grades; i.e. an A at O Level is equivalent to an A at GCSE and an A at IGCSE.
