Health & Safety
It is the policy of the management, so far as is reasonably practicable, to:
* establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment throughout the school;
* establish and maintain safe working procedures among staff and pupils;
* make arrangements for ensuring safety and absence of risks to health in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances;
* ensure the provision of sufficient information, instruction and supervision to enable all employees and pupils to avoid hazards and contribute positively to their own health and safety and to ensure that they have access to health and safety training as appropriate or as and when provided;
* maintain all areas under the control of the Headmaster and Deputy Heads in a condition that is safe and without risk to health and to provide and maintain means of access to and egress from that place of work that are safe and without risk;
* formulate effective procedures for use in case of fire and for evacuating the school premises;
* lay down procedures to be followed in case of accident;
* teach safety as part of pupils' duties where appropriate;
* provide and maintain adequate welfare facilities and to make recommendations to the Health & Safety Committee as appropriate.
* there is a registered nurse at the school, full time. She is responsible for all medications brought into the school, and their administration.
With regard to safety, there is a twenty-four hour security arrangement in the school site. Visitors are requested to register at the security personnel post and to provide a proper identification before entry into the campus is permitted.
Parental Participation
The International British Academy undertakes a partnership with parents/guardians in educating children. The school desires the parents to realise that they have a very important part in the education process. The Headmaster and the staff welcome enquiries from parents. Parents may set an appointment to see the Headmaster or teachers outside of regular teaching hours.
Parents are given a term plan at the beginning of each term showing the major content of the work to be undertaken.
At the end of each term, the parents are invited to discuss their child’s progress. They are asked to make comment on the report and are given a copy of it. The Form Teacher is available to answer queries about the reports at a pre-arranged time.
