Faculty

The Faculty

It has been the strategy of IBA to employ local teachers where possible. Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) is required from all applicants. A strict selection criteria, focused on academic qualifications, subject area expertise and experience, is used to ensure hiring of highly qualified and well experienced teaching staff.

Primary and Secondary Deputy Heads and subject coordinators are responsible for the effective delivery of the curriculum and high learning experience of the students.

To ensure the high quality implementation of the British education system, a British Headmaster is in charge of the academic affairs of IBA.

Teacher-student Ratio

It is the school's policy to maintain a maximum class size of 25 students. The low student-teacher ratio ensure each student of a high level of individual teacher attention and support.

Attendance

1. Academic Staff and Heads expect full and punctual attendance from all pupils. Children should attend school on a daily basis from Monday to Friday.

2. If a pupil is unfit for school, parents/guardians are asked to contact the school on the first day of absence by 10:00 am. When the pupil returns, he or she must bring a written note, signed by the parent/guardian.

3. All holiday leave during term time is at the discretion of the Headmaster. Provided the request is made in advance in writing, leave for up to ten days per school year may be granted, provided that the pupil’s attendance record is otherwise satisfactory.

4. Leaving the campus during school hours is not allowed, unless with prior written permission from authorized personnel.

Homework Policy

The School sees homework as serving the following purposes:

1. To encourage self-discipline and personal organization.
2. To create additional time for structured learning.
3. To bridge the gap between home and school.
4. To allow parents direct involvement in their child's learning.

The setting of tasks to be undertaken at home will be normal practice in the Primary and Secondary levels.

The frequency and length of tasks will vary according to the age and needs of the child, and according to the programme of work at the time.

Tasks set will vary in their nature, and will not necessarily be of a formal pencil and paper style.

Tasks may include amongst others completion and/or extension of work begun in class, group work, research, collecting information and investigations.
